Perfect Pied-à-Terre
Oh, the fun we had designing this Madison Avenue pied-à-terre! My client wanted a NYC base, and found a jewel in the rough. It was overly decorated with leopard on every surface—even the ceiling!—I knew I had my work cut out for me. The challenge was to transform the space into a modern, no-fluff bachelor pad
The design cleanup began with taking the space down to the bare bones. We implemented a neutral palette with a sophisticated, modern, masculine sensibility. The end result was the perfect place for my client to relax during visits to the city. It was a total transformation.
One of my favorite days in any design is installation day. I just can’t help but take snapshots as the look comes together! Enjoy these behind-the-scenes pics I shot as my team was adding finishing touches on installation day. Because sometimes it’s fun to see a work in progress!

An entire wall of leather-upholstered panels creates a modern luxe look for this master bedroom. The sconces are installed directly into the panels, and even the nightstands are attached to maximize space. The inside of the ceiling beams were painted with a decorative metallic copper finish, adding a bit of light play in the room.

Robin wanted to give a slick downtown vibe to this uptown apartment’s master bathroom. The four-inch-thick vanity counter was fashioned from terrazzo with an integral sink big enough for two. The decorative plaster wall treatment highlights the textured wood tile backsplash.

The cooking and entertaining possibilities are endless now in the new chef’s kitchen. The hand-blown glass pendant lights illuminate the striking glass backsplash. A few designer finishing touches, and the installation will be complete.

The kitchen features an unexpected mix of wood and stainless steel cabinets. The frosted glass panels of the cabinetry, the open stainless steel shelves, and the commercial stove finish the space with modern touches.
